Clermont
Coal Mine Project
• In January 2007, Rio Tinto Coal Australia announced the development of the 190 million tonne Clermont thermal coal deposit, 15 kilometres east of the current Blair Athol Mine in Central Queensland.
• Clermont Mine is a successor to Blair Athol Mine, which will wind down to an expected completion in 2012.
• Clermont Mine is expected to produce approximately 12 million tonnes per annum of high quality thermal coal. It is expected to have a life of about 17 years at this production rate.
• The mine will be an open cut truck/shovel operation with an in-pit crushing and conveying system. The coal will be railed 278 km to the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
• JCD Australia became a Clermont Coal joint venture partner in 2007. Other companies involved in the joint venture are:
